Death to Bookmarks
As I surfed the web tonight, I realized that what was once thought of as a "must have" feature of a web browser is now obsolete. The feature, bookmarks... also known favorites. I think the reasons are obvious.
- Google is too damn good and finding what you are looking for
- And now that it's available in the address bar of your browser...who needs bookmarks anymore
- Bookmarks were never useful to begin with...I mean, what good does a cryptic few words describing a web page do when you are searching through hundreds of bookmarks
Now that I've stated my peace...I would like to plead with all the programers out there working on the next generation web browser, kill the bookmark feature...and don't focus on "synchronizing" bookmarks between computers...here's something more powerful and will provide more use for the community in large...desk top virtualization.
Virtualization isn't a new concept...but, I can't wait until I can't tell the difference between my iPhone, MacBook, and XP machines...give me a keyboard and a monitor and I want access to my computer. Simple, heh?
